First, in subsection 4.1.1, from the numerical methods discussed in chapter 3 that method that is best suited to the present study is finally identified: the algorithm using the propagator in the eigenrepresentation of the harmonic oscillator, as discussed in section 3.3. This method is then used to generate, for several initial states and for a number of different values of the parameters , and , long time series of quantum states . These states are analyzed in terms of patterns in quantum phase space (subsection 4.1.1) and energy growth (subsection 4.1.2).
